| Embrace Change , by Lee Truer In this greening time of tender buds and bird song, the poetry and promise of what is happening in nature makes us eager for our own new beginnings. Whatever has simmered inside, through winter, longs to get out. I love spring because it re-minds and re-members me (connects me with my mind and body) that change and growth can be graceful, joyful and wonderfully incrementally resilient. Spring begs us all to ask, "What are the dreams I have put on hold? What is missing in my life? How can I live with full delight in the lusciousness of this moment?" The answer surrounds us and calls us to put aside our To Do List and go outside. After all, here in Minnesota if we blink too fast spring will be gone! Use the mini reflection exercise below to help you embrace change and invite joy into your life. Lee facilitates The Medicine Wheel of Law – Answering Life’s Big Questions.
Mini-Reflection Exercise This exercise works nicely if you can be outside next to water but it can be done anywhere. Have something with you to write with and in. Find a comfortable place to sit. Close your eyes and breathe in the fresh air. Allow yourself the gift of the present moment. Take three nice deep breaths - breathe in joy and possibility and breathe out every day concerns - breathe in healing and growth and out everyday concerns - breathe in love and serenity and out everyday concerns. Now ask yourself 3 questions. Stay open to whatever pops into your mind/heart/body - it may be words, images or just a feeling - know that what ever comes is a gift from being present to this moment (like the buds are present to light and water and air). "What dreams have I put on hold?" “What is missing in my life?” and “How can I live with full delight in the lusciousness of this moment?" Sit still and listen within for five minutes, then open your journal and write out what ever came to you. Don’t censor yourself just write. Your reflections are gifts from being in the present. Enjoy the greening time!
