Mini-Reflection Exercise
Each December, we have offered this exercise or slight variations
to it. We hope youll enjoy it.
It's easy to get swept
up in the holiday rush and lose sight of the meaning of each moment.
Create a Present of Presence for yourself with the
following simple exercise:
- Gather a small box, scissors, tape, gift wrap and tag that you like.
Or really take a break and just visualize going through each step.
- Let your mind relax--look out a window or close your eyes and take some
deep breaths.
- Ponder what you'd like to notice this season. What word, phrase or image
comes to mind?
- Open your box and imagine gently placing your intention into it. Wrap
it lovingly.
- On the gift tag, write a note to yourself. It may be a simple, To
me or as detailed as Carry this gift of _____ in my heart
and share the contents with those around me.
Place
your Present of Presence among
your other packages or somewhere you will see it. If you have imagined
the process, capture an image of what it would look like in your mind.
Allow the real or imagined box to help you to be mindful in the midst
of all your preparations and celebrations.
