Mini-Reflection Exercise
The following exercise is a slight variation to one that we've used in previous years.

It's easy to get swept up in the holiday rush and lose sight of the meaning of each moment. Create a Present of Presence for yourself with the following simple exercise:

  • Gather a small box, scissors, tape, gift wrap and tag that you like (or visualize doing so)

  • Let your mind relax--look out a window or close your eyes and take some deep breaths.

  • Ponder what you'd like to notice this season. What word, phrase or image comes to mind?
  • Open your box and imagine that you are gently placing your intention into it. Wrap it lovingly.
  • On the gift tag, write a note to yourself. It may be a simple, "To me" or as detailed as"Carry this gift of ______ in my heart and share the contents with those around me."
  • Place your Present of Presence among your other packages or somewhere you will see it. Allow it to help you to be mindful in the midst of all your preparations and celebrations.
